My Chick-fil-A Mommy Time

This has been a crazy past week. I am officially agreeing with the old wives’ tale that carrying girls is harder than boys. To all my mom friends with girls, you have received a new level of respect from me. I don’t view myself as a wimpy person but I’m starting to second guess myself.

With all the “fun” this pregnancy has brought, it has made me a lazier mom than I am used to. I have had a lot of guilt lately about all the television and iPad time my boys have experienced, but I am to the point where everything is just simply exhausting and occasionally painful. Fun mom will be back in just  two (hopefully) short months…I hope.

A product of my exhaustion has been taking the boys INSIDE Chick-fil-A, usually Mondays are our Chick-fil-A days.

Why Monday?

Some Mondays, I just haven’t pumped myself up completely to do this whole mom thing, making the play area is a great outlet for energy. Monday also seems to be convenient since Chick-fil-A is closed on Sundays, the day you crave it the most…I know I’m not the only one, just admit it.

So here is a mom trivia question for you…do you enter the play area or let them free?

I have spent a lot of time debating this tricky question.

I obviously do my absolute best to get a booth that has the perfect view of the play area, typically the ones that are directly against the glass. But I still feel guilty when I am sitting there on my phone and my kids are just on their lonesome. I know they don’t miss me one bit and at the moment I am enjoying my time of just people watching and sipping on my sweet tea (I couldn’t handle the guilt to get a milkshake) and keep in mind that this amazing tea cannot go into the play area…boo, but totally understandable.

I feel even worse when other moms are in the play area, I’m not sure why, maybe it’s that I feel that they are a better mom than I or because it seems like they are having to supervise my kids. I am perfectly confident in my kid’s abilities in the play area, it helps that they are in there together, I rely heavily on the buddy system in situations like this.

I have had many moments when I have felt that I needed to get in the play area, most of those are when kids who are way too old are in there just running over the little folks. I also get a little frustrated when you see tiny one year olds in there, they always make me so nervous, like you are asking for my toddler to come barreling down the slide to knock the baby down like bowling pins. Okay, I get it this is now turning into a slight rant, I will stop.

Needless to say, I now love Mondays and I especially love my Chick-fil-A. I will continue sitting on the other side of the glass, the sanity I gain from it is worth way more than the occasional guilt.

Oh, did I mention that one of the sweet “servers” gave me a back rub the other day…apparently I looked that exhausted.

Come to the other side of the glass momma and enjoy your caffeinated drink,
